This film is one of the best films I’ve seen in a very long time. The story tells of the true events of a revival that took place in the late 60’s to early 70’s.

We’re introduced to Greg Laurie, a young man, with a tough past, looking for something; but what is that something? He meets a group of hippies including the beautiful Cathe; who was the one to spark the idea of attending a church service.

The pastor there, Chuck Smith, feels stuck in the old ways of teaching religion, the ways only full of rules instead of actually sharing God’s love and word to everyone, no matter who they are. That all changes when Smith meets Lonnie Frisbee, a hippie who travels the world, sharing the gospel.

Laurie being introduced to the church and its people opens new doors. He accepted Christ into his heart during the “Jesus Movement” and got baptized at Pirates Cove beach. Laurie later becomes a pastor and still shares the word everywhere he can. The story of the “Jesus Movement” is still known today. Up till this time, many people go to Pirates Cove to get baptized and start a new life with Jesus Christ.

Directors Jon Erwin and Brent McCorke did a stunning job putting this well known event on screen. The film made $32 million dollars in box offices and was favored overall by audiences.

God is working in mysterious ways and I’m so glad the message is getting shared throughout the world. I recommend this film to all. It’s such a lovely story and was beautifully told. God bless.
